Passenger Floor Cover Problems
Hi all. I have a question I need assistance with please. We have a 2007 National Pacifica. On the floor cover (that goes over the entrance steps) wont come out. When I push the rocker switch I hear it click however the cover wont come out over the steps. I am not sure how to even access it. I'm assuming its a solenoid of some sort I hear click but don't know where to go from there. Any suggestions are appreciated.

while outside, see if you can pull on the cover to get it to move. Is it air or electric?

when it works, does it travel from the center of coach to the door?
If so- look in your front street storage bay and look up on the ceiling. There should be a cover which conceals the motor, etc

I checked this am and no access panel to get to the motor for the stairwell cover in the first compartment. I also looked in the gen compartment in the front and it appears there might be one there. not sure I can even get to it but will give it a go later today.

no such luck. I pulled the gen open in the front of the coach and it appears there might be an access panel there. haven't attempted to get to it yet as it looks like I need to be a contortionist to get to the screws lol

until you get this resolved, go to Homey and get one of their precut 2x2 plywood - or larger is your entry is wide to cover the steps

Hope that it's a simple fix as mine does the same thing and I'm starting to believe that the access is thru the floor in front of the drivers seat. The other problem is that my gennie isn't on a slide even though it's on the build sheet and I'm really not sure how to get it out easily. When I had to have my starter replaced,4-5 of them, most of the labor was pulling the gennie out the front.

please do my 08 Pacifica is starting to do this ...sometimes if I tap on the top of the panel as it slides out it will work and go all the way out and raise up level with the rest of the coach floor, other times if I keep hitting the open button after it has come out it will raise up level with the rest of the floor.... These gremlins cost us when we cant fix them...

I changed the switch on mine and am hoping that I got the wiring all back on the correct posts. It looks good, but it was before I got a smartphone with a good enuff camera to take a pix of it. I also had to get a replacement switch that was a smaller design.

Issue Resolved
I spoke with the RV Tech that fixed this for me. He said no easy access however he was able to spray some lubrication into both sides and manually pull the step out. he used a couple small flat bars as to not pinch his fingers while someone held the switch in the closed position. Once closed he simply cleaned up the track and lubricated everything and issue resolved. I had tried manually pulling on it but needed one hand on the switch and used one to pull. double flat bars allowed him to pull with both hands and evenly. Oh well it was a $75 minimum shop fee lesson learned. preventative maintenance is the way to go
