Patio Awning

Good afternoon, wanted to see if you guys could give me some input. We put out the main awning (electric) this morning without any issues. Went to put it back in and it wouldn’t budge, can’t even hear it trying to work. Checked breakers and for any obstruction, no luck there. Eventually got it to go back in manually and zip tied just to be safe before heading home. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

Awning is AE Dometic

A lot of awning malfunctions are caused by the wind sensor, located on the roof. Locate the control box and see if the awning will move manually. Unfortunately we have owned gas coaches, not sure where the control box is located on diesel units.

Patio Awning

I had the same thing happen to me last December and I found that it was a dead motor. If this is the case with yours, they are fairly easy to change out. I would definitely recommend you change out the motor in the retracted position and make sure you pin the opposite end with something to prevent movement. Before I found that the motor was bad I connected power from the connector at the end of the arm coming off of the motorhome to the old motor and got no movement. This confirmed that the motor was the issue.
Good luck,
Dave
