Hi, we just brought home our first motorhome, 2006 sea Breeze LX. we listened so carefully to the tech doing the walk through, yet we have already forgotten a lot in just 24 hours

anyway it is sitting parked as we are transferring our things into it, which will take a couple of weeks....now my embarrassing question; since it is not plugged in and the batteries are on for lights only if we need them will they be ok or will they go dead? is there a way to shut them off and do i need to? thank you for your help.

It depends on how good your batteries are and how much you use your lights. There should be a panel to show your battery level.

You should be able to start your generator if your batteries get too low.

You can safely plug into your garage 15/20a outlets and keep everything charged up while you're getting it ready. If you have a residential refer you may have to keep an eye on things as far as amperage goes. You won't be able to run the AC when it warms up.

We have always had ours plugged in while its sitting. Helps keep the batteries up and allows us to run things as were loading/unloading it. @ days before you take off on your first trip, fire up the fridge and get it ready to load as you'll either run it on gas or the generator while running down the road. And yes, Running the Gen while traveling is safe and you'll really like it on those hot days when you can turn on the house AC to cool things off. You do have a switch on the left hand side of the stair well that will disconnect the house batteries.

Agree with Doug, I use my household 15A circuit to charge the batteries and run minor load appliances, such as radio and TV. Run the generator is you want A/C or heavier load items. I have found the generator is a slow way to charge the batteries, compared to the normal household current.

Thank You all. now I'm really embarrassed.... where do i plug the house power in? i mean the plug for the rv park is a big three pronged thing, not a regular house plug at the end of an extension cord i have a feeling ill be asking a lot of questions in the next weeks so again i say thank you

oh can you tell me how the switch is labeled? and if i do disconnect them do i just flip it back to connect them?

You will need to go to a place that supplies RV parts (Camper's World or maybe even Walmart) and get an adapter. It will be a 3 prong female receptacle for the motor-home end of things and your regular 3 prong male plug on the other.

As for the switch to disconnect the coach batteries. It will be labelled disconnect or coach or something like that. Mine has an indicator light but the easy way to tell is to turn on a cabin light and then go through the switches that you suspect. When the cabin light goes off you have found the disconnect.

Just a reminder, if you keep the unit plugged in to the 120v at home, like I do, then be sure to keep an eye on the water level in your batteries. The constant charging can bring the level down before you know it.

Please do not take this as criticism...it is not! We have all been where you are now with more questions than answers. I suggest you find someone knowledgeable of MH's whether at a local dealer, friend, neighbor or wherever and ask them to carefully walk you through all the operating processes. Take notes and/or video tape. In the meantime, keep posting your questions here. Good luck and enjoy!!

you need a 30 amp adaptor. Camping World calls it a generator adaptor.

Super Walmart has the adapters. You need a 20 to 30 and a 30 to 50. A little off your question, but search the forum for info on surge protectors.
