Question: 12V power source for gererator and house lites?

I am chasing a wiring problem and need confirmation on the following.

1. Does the generator only turn-over (start) using the coach batteries? When the house batteries are disconnected using the battery disconnect switch, the generator won't turn-over. Is this how it should be?

2. When connected to shore power, I thought that the house lights stayed on even when the house batteries were disconnected using the battery disconnect switch. Again, is this the way things are supposed to work or do I have a wiring problem?

#1 & #2, Yes , most coaches that's the set up.
, The converter/charger uses the coach batteries as a buffer to minimise voltage spikes and is wired into the system on the battery side of the disconnect relay. Also if you're on shore power there is no need to use the battery disconnect, it's function is to prevent battery drain while the coach is in storage.

EDIT: If you go to the " Quick Links " drop box , under your welcome message and click " Edit Signature " you can type in your coach info and it will automatically appear below your posts as mine does below this one. Saves typing it in every time you post.

Skip426 Thanks for the great info. I will be finally able to sleep to night instead of chasing a wiring problem in my dreams?! Also appreciate the suggestion of adding coach type to my signature sign in.
