Recliner Replacement in my 2006 National Dolphin

I have the original leather recliner in my 2006 Dolphin that I would like to replace with a newer and longer one from a local furniture store. The new chair has a solid swivel base versus the older chair's open base that was bolted to the floor. For those of you that have made this same conversion, how will I go about securing the new chair to the floor? Do I just tie the strap to the new base and go with that or something else? Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

I'd remove old chair and see where the old fasteners match up with the new chair base. A piece of flat bar stock, 2" wide could then be fabricated into new anchoring for the chair. I'd cut a bar long enough to wrap around the round base and flatten out. Drilling a hole through the folded bar for the bolts should do a good job of anchoring the new chair. I'd want at least 2, more likely 3 anchors bolted down to hold the new chair in place securely.

My 06 is not bolted down just footman loops with a strap attached.

If yours is the same and new chair has any type of legs attach there. The straps are to stop movement from starting not solid mounting..

We replaced the couch in our '02 DSDP with two swivel base La Z Boys. Never needed to bolt them down and they never moved. Replaced the StressLess chair in the present rig with the same type chair, again it doesn't move at all in transit.

Our new couch and swivel recliner are not fastened down. Had no problem so far.

I did the same thing. After removing the old chair I used ONE 1/2 carriage bolt through to the basement compartment. Just drilled a single hole in the base of the replacement chair and ran the bolt though it. Put a wing nut & fender washer on it in the compartment below. When ever I got to a campground I just took the wing nut off and the chair was free to move around for better reclining. Always bolted it down for travel. A single bolt was more than adequate for holding it in place.

While in 'transit' or normal driving, you don't need seat belts either. It's in an accident or sudden movement that the seat belt serves as a safety device. In an accident, a recliner becomes a couple hundred pound hammer for anything in front of it.
