Replacing Bottom Slide Seal
Anyone out there who has replaced the bottom seal on their living room slide on a National?? Mine has worked loose on the end and each time I bring the slide in or out I have to use my hands to make sure it stays in place. The next few days I'll be in Quartzsite so I'm hoping to find the seal at The Gambler. Is this something I want to tackle or not??

X2. I wonder if this is a problem for more than just us 3.. Mine pops out at the front when you put the slide out and if you tuck it back in before you put the slide in it stays tucked till you put the slide out again.

I used some contact cement to reglue the seal. That seal was glued in to begin with.

Just had a thought as to the possible cause of the drooping seal. Besides me and Dan did you other two replace your factory installed carpet???
Dan, you're right it does appear to have been glued. I also noticed on mine that the screws running up from the compartment hinge also hold the seal in place.

I replaced both of my dust seals under the room slides on my Tropical. The "lounge" slide is white vynl and the "galley" slide is black rubber.
I actually had the galley slide seal replaced at an RV shop in South Dakota but it popped loose again in just a few weeks.
When I pulled the seals off, I found some surface corrosion behind them that was never taken care of by the dealer. I guess that level of attention to detail is not something that you get from a third party.
After removing the seals and the seal guide stripes, I power wire brussed the corrosion and treated it with POR15. When I re-installed the seals, I used clear RTV to glue them to the aluminum guide strips.
So far, all the seals have stayed in place and are doing well. I have been spraying them with slide lube so they stay slick when opening and closing the slides.
I also replaced a few missing floor tiles near the outer edge of the refrigerator portion of the slide and added four additional nylon rubstrips that the slide weight bears on during operation. Very smooth and quiet slides now.

Mine was loose even before I removed the carpet.

No,I haven't replaced the carpet, but just may..The rig is in the shop getting the roof fixed where it's cracked and the drivers wall redone from where the water from the roof leak ran down and around the window. There was some water damage to the carpet and I may just put a darker berber carpet in.

After reading Dan's post I took a good look at my seal and it was glued in place. The Gambler in Quartzsite did not have the seal material. So, I'm going to try gorilla glue, but before I use it I want to clean the old glue residue off the seal and slide area. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what will clean and prepare the seal and area for a good bonding??

Thanks for the info. I need to recheck my slide but it appeared that the seal was torn. What frosts me is that I just (March) had the slides serviced at a RV place and nothing was mentioned about the seal having any problems. Let us know how it goes.

Bought Goof Off at Lowes and it cleaned the seal and slide real good. Applied the good ole Gorilla glue and so far so good. Slide seal is staying put after about 8 in and outs.
After looking at the seal a little closer it appears to be a peel and stick type seal. The actual seal is a white round hollow tube with a black strip on the bottom which I believe to be a peel and stick application.
Anyone know the source for this seal????????????????????

Let me know too if a replacement is out there. I'll try the Goof Off and glue again as mines loose at one end again.
