Replacing Factory Vent with Dometic Fan-tastic Vent 7350

2005 National RV Dolphin 5342

Trying to replace the factory vent that operates off the control panel in the coach with the Dometic Fan-Tastic Vent 7350 (https://www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoo...ent-7350-21018).

The new vent just has two wires, white and black, and then is controlled by a wireless remote that acts as the thermostat.

The old vent has two wiring harnesses connected to it, I assume for all the fancy buttons on the old control panel (manual/automatic/off; rain sensor; temperature; etc...).

How do I rewire this new vent so that as long as the coach has power, the vent has power and not have to worry about all the old switches on the control panel for the rain sensor, etc...?

First off, Welcome to IRV2!

All you need to do is use a meter to find which of the wires is the 12v positive and which is ground. Taking a wild guess, the two wire plug may be power with red positive and white negative.

thanks for the quick reply! So in that case, I guess I'd just leave that other harness dead in the ceiling? I'm guessing that harness is what goes back to the factory control panel...

I'm not familiar with that system, but you are probably correct.
