I have a question regarding the slide out mechanism. Slide goes out half way, grinding noise, then goes no further. Pulls back in with no issue. I have pulled the gearmotor apart, verified that everything is OK, relubed it and reinstalled. Exact same issue.

I suspect that something is inhibiting the slide from moving further, and the noise is coming from the gearmotor which appears to have a built in mechanical overload mechanism that moves one gear out of contact with the next gear.

All visible rollers are OK. Does anyone have a pic or diagram of the slide mechanism, in particular the square tube in tube part that moves in and out. Is there some kind of roller on the inside end of the inner tube?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a '99 and the slide really didn't want to move unless I was either hooked up to shore power until the transfer switch kicked in or the motor was running. It needed a full 12VDC plus to work the slide properly

Thanks for the link to the Service Manual. Any idea how I can find the particular model number that is installed? Power is not the issue, connected to shore power and measured voltage under load at the gear motor, 12.8 volts.

Off to digest the manual and see what I can figure out.

slide

their is a roller on the end of the tube in tube . also the front tube is exposed to the dirt from the front tire and if you got in to some mud some where can get gumed up . the front slide box is the one that usually is a problem for that reason. you can get to the rollers on the end when the slide is in to clean and lube, a wand compressed air gun works to blow the channel out

I also have a 1998 Tradewind and I had the same problem, cause was one of the molding screws was not screwed in enough, screwed it in worked for a while then I took the screw out and still working. the side worked even when not plugged in to power or not as long as you have good house batteries, I would leave motor home running until I let slide out.
