ok, need help. i know the roof horns on my 2005 dolphin 5320 are electric not air. they were stopped up with debris, cleaned them out. can someone tell me how they work and how to get them to work?

I have not had problems with roof horns, but I have had the same type of problems on my motorcycle horn. After making sure all of the debris is clear, try spaying some WD40 into the horn.

There is a pretty much direct replacement horn set from Defender Industries, a marine supplier. Here's a link to their catalog page for Item # 551928 Ongaro deluxe stainless steel trumpet horns.

They're not cheap at just under $140 (on sale now for $109) but they are very effective and when you honk you sound a lot more like a semi than a VW which the grill horns provide. Specs say they are 122db at 1 meter and I'd say they're every bit of that.

thanks, not looking to replace them just want to get these working if possible.

Inside the back cover of the horn, there is an adjustment screw with loctite on it. This adjustment screw adjusts the gap on a set of points. The points may also need cleaning as they have to be able to conduct current from the 12 volt supply when the horn is pressed on. The gap of the points needs to be adjusted so it clauses the diaphragm to vibrate(oscillate) when the horn is energized. When energized, adjusting the gap of the points
will "tune" or change the horns tone.
If set too far one way or the other, no diaphragm oscillation or honk will occur.

You did not say that you were on the roof with your multi-meter checking the horn for 12 volt......as your co-conspirator pressed the horn button. Done that ? There might be a fuse to check ??

Great info. Mine don't seem to be working either so I'll give that a try (after checking for 12V at the horns).

many thanks to all. i do have 12 volts at the horn, took them apart and they were stopped up with debris, cleaned points good and tried adjusting then put ohm meter on coil , no continuity so i ordered new horns.

just to let you know, i bought these and they were an exact replacement. easy swap out and work great. thank you.

i replaced mine they were set up to blow with the regular horn button, my old ones was getting voltage from the button but would not work so i simply replaced them. about 125.00, love them. they are electric not air as one would think.
