I'm not sure who the maker of your Surfside is but, if it does have a fiberglass roof, then there's a couple of ways to look at it or, take an approach to making it better. One, you can do what I and, a very few others have done and that is to wash it thoroughly, dry it, then, I actually used a machine buffer on it with cutting compound. That turned that roof into an almost mirror. Then, a good coat of wax and, it was preserved for quite some time 'till it just needs the re-wax.
And yeah, yeah, yeah, bla, bla, bla, I know all about how "slippery" it gets when it's in that shiny state and it get's wet. I haven't fallen off of it yet. But, that roof is in flawless shape and, it allows me to do good, thorough inspections of seals, edges, caulk seams, antennas etc. while I'm up there doing my kind of maintenance.
Now some, don't want to go through that much work and will simply wash it and, apply what's called "ZEP WET LOOK". It's a liquid floor wax, normally used on interior floors. I'm not a fan of using it but, for many it seems to serve their purpose.
If you have a rubber roof, then there's also a couple of ways to look at it. Some, will NEVER TOUCH IT and think it will last for ever. I however, don't quite look at it that way. When we had our '99 Fleetwood Bounder 34V, it had the rubber roof. And through time, approximately 8-10 years of sitting and being used in direct So Cal sunlight, started to deteriorate drastically. It was becoming more and more black, due to the loss of the white pigmentation that coats the original EDPM roof material.
So, I looked up the process for rejuvenating it. Camping World and a few others sell what's called the Dicor Process. If you'd like to know more about that and, what we did with it, PM me and I'd be glad to assist.
