Scanner plugin ?

This plug is under the dash, left side of steering column. Is the plugin for a diagnostic scanner? Thanks.

That may be obd 1. OBD 2 started in 96, you may have a 95 chassis.

Thanks for replies. Chassis is a P30. Chevy 454. VIN # says it's a 1995 (S code).

This is what you need to read the codes for ODB 1. Can probably pick one up at a local parts store.

Yes, that is your OBD1 connector, trust me.
Retired GM mechanic says so.
Jump the two terminals together on the upper row, right side and your check engine light should flash any trouble codes. Code 12 is normal, indicating all systems operating as designed. Anything after code 12 is abnormal. It will flash once, followed by twice. Pause, then any other codes will flash.

Also work for OBDII?

Will the paper clip trick work for OBDII (2003 W-22), as well, to read codes? Might come in handy sometime!!! Thanks

Nice tip but all I get is a continuous flashing of 'service engine'. The key is on and engine running. I am assuming this is the way it has to work.? Thanks.
