Slide creeps open while driving ! ! !

Hi Folks,

I have a clean low mileage 99 Dolphin 37 gas'ser with a single large drivers side living room / kitchen slide out.

When I am driving and I make a right turn ( obviously pulling torque out to the right outside ) the slideout creeps open a few inches up to 6 inches !

On a hard / sharp right turn the slide out opens up to 6 inches , never more than 6 inches thank goodness lol even on the twistiest mountains or on ramp / off ramps, but I fully expect it to jump out one day if I don't get this rectified and soon.

None the less every time I drive it and make a right turn the slide pops out 2 to 6 inches ( NOT a good thing )

This is a manual ( turn the key switch ), electric ( motor moves it in and out ) slide with the 3 position key type switch located next to the entry door and so I cant just flip a dash switch to keep it in while driving .

I 'have' been tempted to unbuckle and jump over to flip the 'in' switch and jump back in the driver seat in the freeway ( just kidding lol )

Other than the slide moving out while turning right it works just fine when parked I can slide all the way out and slide all the way in with no problem.

So is there some locking mechanism or hidden lock that I am missing or is broke or worn out ?

Your input is moocho appreciated.

Steve

Check the bay under the slide for the motor. On the end of the motor is a lever that moves, make sure it is in the lock position.

The electric motor that moves the slide should have a brake on it. Mine does. You have to locate the motor and there should be some type of lever on it. This lever is the brake. The motor should be activated with the brake engaged. Chances are the brake on your slide motor inadvertently was released. A person would release the brake if they wanted to manually open the slide.

Opps, I see someone beat me to the punch about the locking lever.

Here's a link to Power Gears tech sheet on proper engagement of the brake.

Got It ! I drove down the mountain this morning and no slide creep

Thanks folks I flipped the lever clock wise a half inch to the lock position ( crawling on my knees bent up and backwards 90 degrees with baggage door laying my shoulders )

This lock lever should be called by a more descriptive name like the 'Driving Lock Lever' or the Motor Override Disengage Slide Lock Lever' or some other more descriptive terms as it does not seam to me to not lock or un-lock the slide in any particular 'motorized' position but 'one' which is the fully retracted / in aka driving position.

Thanks for answering my question
