Had slide checked for squareness, etc. then installed guardian plates on underside. Took it this am to have tires checked and the slide had moved out about 1/2in or less. Issues...fix...???

More information please ? Is this the rear slide ? Slide moved out while small amount while driving ? Otherwise does the slide go in and out normally ?

Rear slide...RBW slide..and yes appeared to go out just a little as stated...goes in and out normally.

one more edit...just appears to go out on the bottom of slide...not top

I haven't come up will an idea why this happened. Usually the gear box reduction ratio and motor friction won't let the slide mechanism move. Is your slide motor/gear assembly the original like in picture below. The newer type motors have a magnetic brake built in to not let the motor rotate or move when off.

Nope it is a German made motor that replaced a replacement on the original motor that both had the gear problems. There is NO external brake on this motor, so it must the magnetic brake as you note. (But that is a guess on my part) My thoughts are this, (altho I really don't have a clue) is that maybe the slide was not set to the full in position on the bottom for some reason and with the friction happening on the bottom of the slide by the rollers, it was being held in place. By putting the guardian plates on, which are SS there is less friction and hence comes out a little. WAG

You may have a point there, perhaps the slide would now roll in and out easier now on the steel plates. I'm not sure what the solution is ...

Reading thru those pages I found this...
"The way the internal brake operates is via the room operation switch. When the switch is at rest, the two motor leads, #1 and #5 on the back of the switch are shunted together. This ties the magnets in the motor together which then pushes the brake disk against the stator to prevent movement. Sometimes, dependent upon how the coach is wired, when you turn off the power switch for the slide room it's actually disconnecting one of the motor leads. That will disengage the brake."
the one thing they did do is rewire the switch that had been wired backward...Hmmm
I always turn the switch off when done moving the slide

Someone needs to watch the slide go in and see if the top hits before the bottom. If it does the weight of the bed could be wedging it out. The plates you put in would add a small amount of thickness to that part of the slideout causing the problem. JUST A THOUGHT.

This is the only conclusion I can come to (so far) When it comes in, comes in right, but the plates are the only real thing I changed and the reduced friction on them. The slippage seems to be fairly consistent.
