Slide Issue

My living room slide will retract put will then push out about an inch to an inch and a half. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this?

Welcome to iRV2.

Unfortunately we're going to need a bunch of info about your RV to be of any real help .

Brand of RV ? Year ? slide manufacturer ? Electric gear drive or hydraulic slide activation ?

EDIT: While I was away , looks like a moderator moved our posts to the National owners forums , That answers one of my questions.

I had this problem on a previous rig. The slide was hydraulic and if I held the retract button down for 5 seconds after retraction the problem was solved.

Not sure I understand what you're describing.

Do you have a Power Gear unit for the slide it will be an electrical unit. Is this a new RV for you? The Power Gear drive unit has a brake lever on it, it could be this lever has been moved so it's not acting as a brake. The brake lever is on the motor and sticks up from the motor you unlock it if you have to close the slide and for some reason the motor is not working. On mine it's in one of the storage bins just under the floor.

I have a 97 National Tropical. the slide goes out but not in. I took it apart and the motor turns in one direction but not the other? Do you have a wiring diagram. The switch has 3 white wires and the motor has two, one black and one red, where do they meet?

I agree with John Wayne, the motor's brake ( under rubber boot at the end of the slide's motor)is not working correctly. Pull the rubber boot (cover) off and have a close look at the brake mechanism. The brake mechanism may be sticking or seized, it may only need some WD40 to loosen it up.

Living room slide

I checked the voltage at the electric motor, there was 13vdc when the switch was put into the out position, 0vdc when the switch was in the IN position. So I have ordered the circuit card.
