Southern California Gas Nozzles
Today was my first trip away from home-port in over a year, due to a shoulder injury, so I decided to kill 3 birds withone stone ( Propane, Gas & Dometic refrigerator recall-fix ). During this idle period, the mighty Wizards of Sacramento decided to modify all the gas-station nozzles, ostensibly to better capture the errant vapors that rise from the filler-pipe during gassing operations. Unfortunately, the combination of an annular ring around the end of the nozzle, plus a shortened boot between the handle & nozzle tube required,(in order for the pump to activate)that the instrument be shoved so far into the filler-pipe, that the plastic barrier in the pipe captured the nozzle-end, and refused to allow it to be withdrawn. It took both the station attendant & myself, with two screwdrivers, 1/2 hour to stretch the plastic aperture enough to finally yank the nozzle out! I am hoping some enterprising after-market folks can come up with a replacement ( plastic ) fitting for the top of the filler tube, that will provide sufficient clearance for said nozzle, that us hapless So Cal inmates can again gas up without getting a double hernia!!
