Thinking of buying 2005 Tropical 351 DP.

What do you think of the Nationals? Should I shy away since they went bankrupt? Just trying to get feedback

Had an 04 Tropi Cal T396 for six years. Wish I had it back. Probably the best coach I ever owned. Nothing much to be afraid of the chassis is by Freightliner and the engine by Cat. Parts and service is not a problem. Most of the rest of the coach parts are by major companies that are still in business. The only problems you might have is if you were to need body parts.

We bought ours used after driving a Dolphin for over 90,000 miles. Good motorhomes. Nothing to worry about. Components made by others, such as Dometic, Powergear, Onan, etc. If you need fiberglass work, any good body shop can help and Ortega mfg bought many of the National molds for front and rear caps and doors. If you like it, buy it.

Even the body parts are still available
RV Parts | Ortega Manufacturing

We have had our 1999 Tradewinds since 2007 and haven't had any trouble getting maintenance or parts.

No experience with their RVs, but had dealings with the National factory for buses and handicapped transportation vans. National definitely built quality products. When I was shopping for Class A RV, National was one of the companies on my short list.

We have had a 2005 Tropical 370LX for about 6 months and are very happy with the coach. Build quality and materials seems very good. Fit and finish are good. Electrical and plumbing systems are well thought out, organized and accessible for service. Ours had 32k miles when purchased and we have used for about 2500 miles with no problems. Freightliner chassis, CAT engine, all other accessories and equipment are industry standard.

If this is your first time of Buying an RV, You should take a moment and look for our PDI check list, Besides making sure the floor plan is what you want and can use with ease, you'll want to make sure you don't have to turn around and buy tires and/or other things you didn't check ahead of time. National Is a Great Brand, and it saddens me their no longer in Bus. for the money, they some of the best floor plans around!

I think you'd have a hard time finding someone that doesn't like their national product. We've full timed in our 2005 Dolphin 5376 for going on 7 years. Build quality is 2nd to none.

I think you will find that pound for pound that Nationals are priced quite fairly often costing less that many similarly equipped alternatives. Not sure why that is because as this thread suggests, National had a very decent product and those who own them are generally very happy with them.

National made some great RVs before the economic crisis killed them. They were like #5 in the industry before going under. Solid units!
