Looking for opinions:

On our W22 Workhorse chassis,
GVWR: 22,000
GCWR: 26,000
= 4,000 toad weight limit (sticker on back of M/H says so anyway, and I believe the entire SeaBreeze/Dolphin line has a tow rating of 4,000.)

Now if you crawl up under the back of the motorhome and look at the manufacturer's sticker on the tow hitch itself, THAT reads 5,000.

Here's the question: Is the NRV sticker stating 4,000 due to the hitch assembly and its attachment to the M/H frame not being able to take more? OR, could I safely tow up to 5,000 with this setup so long as I keep the GCWR within the stated 26,000?

Safe travels, all.

Hitch rated at 5k...Motorhome GCWR says you can tow 4k. I would be thinking that I could tow up to 5k If I didnt gross over the GCWR of 26k.
It will be intreating what other folks think...

In the case you have described, you are limited by the GCWR. The GCWR is set by the chassis manufacturer. The hitch assembly installed by National, must meet or exceed the GCWR set by the chassis manufacturer. The standardized definition of GCWR by RVIA is attached below.

GCWR (Gross Combination Weight Rating) is the maximum allowable combined weight of the tow vehicle and the attached towed vehicle. GCWR assumes that both vehicles have functioning brakes, with exceptions in some cases for very light towed vehicles (less than 1,500 lbs). Check your chassis manual or manufacturer towing guide.
