Transmission oil vent

On an 03 dolphin LX with Allison 1000 transmission is cleaning or replacing the trans oil vent (breather) a DIY job or is it better to let the professionals do it. I think I located the breather, but can not really see it, Just feel it with finger tips. Just wondering what the procedure is.

Appreciate any thoughts and help
