I want tow a 2013 Lincoln MKX 4 down behind my 460 powered1997 6330. I plan on upgrading the hitch to a class 4, reinforcing the frame if need be, adding a TransCommand and full Banks kit, new air intake and possibly a new intake manifol. Anyone have any advice or tips?

Not sure what the towing capacity is on your Tropical but my 1998 Sea Breeze with a Chevy 454 is limited to 5k. I pull my 2014 Jeep wrangler unlimited 4 wheels down that is about 45k with no problems. What does the Lincoln weigh?

About 4k. I figure with the upgrades I should be able to tow 5k safely. Don't plan on exceeding any limits but, given the age of the system I want to upgrade the structure and power to be sure it is all done safely and as effortlessly as possible.

I do drop speed going up grades but not a great deal more than I did prior to towing. Acceleration from a stop is not nearly as quick with the toad. I want to do the Banks power pack upgrade as well. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Good luck and happy travels![emoji41]

Just be sure not to exceed your GCWR or GAWR ratings or you could open yourself up to liability problems if you're ever involved in an accident. I'm not one to be overly paranoid about such things, but a smart lawyer could easily figure out if you were overloaded. I guess weigh stations in some states check this too, though I've never run into one.

If the MKX only weighs 4k I'm guessing you won't have much of a problem. I shake my head though when I see people using heavy vehicles like Expeditions and Navigators as toads.

We had been looking at gently used Wranglers but could find none with under 140k on the clock for 10k or so. We were going to trade the MKX but then got smart. Since we already owned it and found that it could be towed 4 down the goal was to be able to do it safely. This also allowed us to put the money we were going to use for the Jeep into setting up the MH to tow.

We originally were going to trade up from the first-purchase Tropical but, after getting everything working, upgrading the suspension and the inside we decided to keep it, tow the MKX and trade the '17 MKC on a '17 Explorer Platinum instead. All said, getting the MH has led to a lifestyle change that we are enjoying. Also led to lots of new projects that have necessitated learning all about MH quirks as well as finding a great heavy equipment mechanic. Essentially many new and welcome adventures.
