Tropical LX Air Horn

Hey Folks, I have a 2005 Tropical LX Diesel, when the horn switch is in the air horn position, the horn just kind of squeaks when I push it. Every so often it will blare like it's suppose to, any ideas??

First do you have air pressure? I assume so since it will blare occasionally.

A stodgy solenoid. Find it a rap on it a few times see if that frees it up. Or replace it. A clogged horn, clean it or get a kit for it and replace the parts.

It is electrical if something is not clogged. Do you have electrical to the solenoid? To the switch? To the horn? If not then it could be weak contact at the horn button. Follow your multi meter around the system and something should turn up.

I had the same problem a while back. My air horn quit completely.
I ended up replacing the solenoid valve. I talked to the guys at Colton Truck Terminal where I have my service work done and they advised that the basic problem is that we don't blow the horns often enough. Moisture in the valve freezes it. I tried soaking mine in several chemicals with no success. I bought a replacement on the internet. Mine is located in the service compartment on the drivers side in front of the front wheel. It's an easy fix. Then blow it whenever you feel like annoying the traffic around you!

Mine also quit working and we found the solenoid had melted and we figgered out that when it's operating, the air going thru the valve keeps the uniy cooled and we think that after dumping the air sothere was no pressure, the grandkids were playing bus driver and hitting the horn and burned it up.
