Although it was in good shape we decide to replace the light colored carpet with something with more color and more durable. Since our Tradewinds had hickory cabinets we went with a hickory floor. It was a lot of work but looks great and will be a lot more practical with our 4 grand children.

Wow! That looks really great. Ours has blond oak wood and a brown carpet. It still has red rock Moab dust in it.

Question: Is the hardwood floor easier to maintain than carpet? I would be concerned about dirt being tracked in being hard on the floor.

Great job. The most interesting part was the work around the driver seat.

We used a commercial flooring, called Coretec Encore, a lot more expensive than wood but nearly indestructible.

We do a lot a racing always have dirt track dirt on out shoes and cloths.

One thing it did make me realize, is how dirt our carpet must have been.

our 2000 tradewinds also had that really old carpet, got to change it! Reading the owners manual, inspecting the floor etc it soon became evident that the lounge slide ACTUALLY slides over the carpet on nylon pads/runners. For this reason you cannot change the carpet for wooden or laminate flooring because within a short time the wood/laminate will be scuffed up by sliding the slide out in and out directly on the new flooring! Put a new carpet in, really nice, warm and the acoustics are so much better without hard flooring!

Our 2000 Tradewinds is the same way. I did a test as it left a very light mark even on the Coretex so I put 1/4" felt at all the contact points and I have slid it in and out about 20 times and no damage.
