VIN Location

We are trying to register our 1997 Dolphin with DMV. They need to see where the vin # is stamped on the Ford chasis. We can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Renee

open the hood and look carefully on both sides of the radiator support. Its usually stamped on a metal plate that's riveted to the radiator support. It may be hidden behind wire bundles or other stuff mounted on the firewall / radiator support.

On mine (1999), its on the passenger side radiator support.

There is one by the windshield & it matches title but they say it is screwed in & not riveted so they must see one riveted to chasis.

The one on the chassis should be stamped directly into the metal, but it sounds like you got someone who does not know their job.

Are they actually screws holding the tag on? That in itself could be a problem.

The plate by the windshield is put in with screws instead of rivets but you have to look close to see that. We actually have the original bill of sale & everything matches. DMV says this is a problem with most older RV's.
