Question Voyager radio

I own a 2004 Dolphin LX 6342. It has a Voyager VR180 AM/FM Cassette radio with CD player and cassette player installed in the dash. The unit also has connected to it an AquaTronics 10-disc CD changer. The radio itself has a power switch but there is a master power switch on the dash. Recently both switches are on, the radio lights up indicating it is receiving power but there is no other information displayed such as radio station, clock, etc. I assume it's an electronic problem with the radio. I have already looked on the internet site of Audiovox Specialized Applications (listed in the Owner's Manual) and don't see the same radio or what might be a good replacement. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, was there a fix or can you recommend a satisfactory replacement radio?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Is it pssible you have a cd or tape stuck in the slot and it's just not playing or ejecting? Mine has a set of buttons on the right side of the radio that is for selection of AM, FM, CD etc, have you tried pushing those?

Radio

Yes. I have tried all that. I called the company listed in the owner's manual, Audiovox Specialized Applications, and talked to their technical support. The guy there, Lon, was very helpful. He thought the problem was likely a blown fuse and explained that there are two in-line fuses at the back of the radio. One is a 10 amp fuse and one is .5 amp. He suggested removing the radio from the dash and checking those fuses though I made need a special tool to remove the Audiovox radio. It's a Ford product and they typically don't use standard nuts and bolts for mounting. The tool, if needed, can be obtained from most audio stores. I'm going to give that a try and report back.

Thanks for your help.

The radio can be removed without regular handtools. On the face of the radio there are 4 small holes, two on the right side and two on the left side. By inserting a round rod, like a cut wire coat hanger, into these holes you can release the clips and pull the radio out of the housing. You may have to unplug the radio from the back if they didn't provide enough wire to pull out the radio and then unplug it. Most plugs have clips built into the plug to hold it in place. Just squeeze the plug as you pull out and it will come off. Once you have the radio out finding, checking and replacing fuses should be easy.

After you get the radio out, make sure that you shake the radio to see if there is anything inside the radio that sounds loose. The very same thing happened to me a short time ago. After I got the radio out, I found about 5 cents worth of pennys inside the radio. It turns out that my grand kids found that the CD slot was a great place to deposit loose change. Soooooo, the change shorted out one of the fuses.

Fortunately, the previous owner of the RV left the operating manuals for all of the appliances and entertainment systems. In this case, he also left the tools for pulling the radio. Tried to pull the radio yesterday but unfortunately, there is a nylon bracket screwed to the back of the radio that prevents the radio from sliding out. Wasn't prepared for that and ran out of time so will go back today, remove the bracket, and pull the radio out.

Thanks to everyone for your advise.

It was a fuse problem. Actually both existing fuses looked fine but on a hunch, I replaced them both. When I plugged everything back in and turned on the power, it worked!

Thanks to all for your help and advice.
