Water fill valve.replacement

When hooked up to city water..my fresh water tank was back filling...thinking it was a faulty check valve in the water pump...I replaced the pump..not the problem..so I have narrowed it down to the city water/tank fill valve..before I take it out...does anyone know a part number or would it be a standard valve I can pick up at a hardware store?...thanks

You'll need something like this, can't remember if it's a 3/8" or 1/2" valve, you'll have to pull it apart to confirm what you'll need. You probably can pick it up at a good hardware store.Click image for larger version

I replaced my Watts ball valve back in 2012 and it cured the problem you're having. The new part number is LFB6780. Here is a link to the correct valve. LFB6780, LFB6781 2-Piece, Full Port, Lead Free* Diverter Ball Valves, Bronze Ball Valves, Water Safety & Flow Control - Watts It's 1/2 inch.

You won't be able to rebuild the one you have. The ball gets pits in it and causes water to bypass. Call Watts and they'll give the the location of a dealer. They have to be lead free.

On most National RV's the connection is a pressure regulator and a check valve that prevents water from coming out of that fitting when using the on board water pump. I solved this problem by installing a one way check valve on the tank side of the water pump.
