Water heater help 2006 Sea Breeze LX8311

Hello, it's 9:00 P.M. And we are so frustrated. We moved into our "new" home on the 17th. That's 4 days ago. The water heater has been working fine. Until tonight when it suddenly quit as my husband (a plumber, ironically) attempted to take a shower. I've searched high and low online and can't figure out what has gone wrong. Please anybody out there. Ideas? We have no buttons under our sink, it seems to be all electric with two inside switches one for 12v one for 120v. Thank you
