Water Pump Use

I might have asked this before, and if so let me know (this over 60 thing sucks).

We are currently at a site where the water pressure is very low. So for showers we've been turning on the water pump, which helps the pressure out quite a bit. (Filter is new, and the water coming out of the hook-up is not strong, so I've checked that). Is there any harm in doing this? I can't see that there would be, as the pump is pulling from my tank adding to the pressure and water flow, so my thought is it doesn't really know where the water is coming from. Does anyone else do this?

Thanks in advance!

Al

No, not one bit. we do it all the time. Just fill your fresh water tank from time to time and use the water pump.

Sometimes it's the only way to get a shower!

City water and pump supply the SAME cold water line which also supplies the water heater and hot water lines

Pump uses a pressure switch to turn it on/off.....it will NOT run unless City water pressure is lower then the pump pressure switch set point (30# or 40#----depends on pump model)
When pump runs it will cause the 'check valve' in the City water inlet assembly to CLOSE (prevent backflow into City water source)

If City water supply pressure is Higher then pump pressure switch set point then pump will not run with switch ON....it just has power available but nothing to motor until pressure switch closes

So City water & Pump......no harm no foul
And due check valve/pressure switch only ONE supplies the water to RV Plumbing System...whichever one has higher pressure
