All Thanks for the confirmation. I now have the insight I need to feel confident about a modification. AND thanks for the link to the sewer supply place. I saved it in my favorites. Pretty reasonable prices too. Thanks to everyone that submitted. It helps a LOT to have a community this active and supportive!!

It would be easier to switch the type of sewer hose you are using. I've used the "Prest-o-Fit" Blueline hoses and connections for many years and have been very happy them. They fit through the bottom hole in the service bay with no problem.

Agreed. I think it's some of the more recent inventions, like Rhino fittings, that don't fit.

Why is the hole too small for the stinky slinky?

Same problem here and also cut a bigger hole and put a bigger deck plate I bought at a local marine shop....makes life easier....here’s another thread about it where I posted pics of the mod I did....

I have a 2007 Tropi-Cal and I had the same problem. Tried using a clear 10" extension but the sewer dump hose and the hole in the bottom of the wet bay are off by like 1" (perhaps it shifted?).
I got a short hose (2ft) extension and filed off of the grip nubs.

That way I didnt have to risk wrecking my nice long hose.

Not just on National. My Beaver also has the lip on the bay above the bottom of the dump hook up. If I run it through the hole I can't use my slinky support to keep elevation to the dump inlet but I can't run it straight out because it has to go over the hump. I have to use a clear 90 on the outlet because the bend on the sewer hose is too sharp to connect. I know the outlet swivels but it isn't enough.

Or...you could leave things as they are now and flush the black tank first... and follow up with the gray tank. This should clear the hose. I am an over-the-lip person and this works fine for us.

I own a 2001 National Caribbean same set up as yours, the stinky slinky will fit the opening, you need to turn the hooks on the slinky so they go up thru the opening across the corners. It will fit fine but not a lot of extra room!

This was the way I 'solved' this issue. Get the deck large, cut the hole in the RV and screw in the deck plate. Hole is now larger and hose easily fits through. I also leave a 2' hose attached to the outlet so I only have to attach the longer slinky to that and run it to the sewer dump hole. That way I can keep hoses pointed upwards when connecting and avoid any little splashes from the system.

i don't find dumping the tanks to be a big deal......of course i have heavy duty rubber gloves that go almost to the elbow............hook up, pull black valve, rinse black tank, close valve, pull gray tank valve, drain, shut........remove hose.........pretty simple...cut bigger hole, get a new plate........you might need an 45 degree elbow, but they are cheap.............

Same problem as all of you have, with stinky slinky..

Hi.. We just bought a 2006 National Surf Side, after trading in an older Fleetwood that we had about a year....(It was a trainer MH)..
We took it out for a maiden voyage weekend last, just about 40 miles from home to test it out....
My husband was very perplexed that the Rhino hoses (less than a year old with lots of clear elbows) would not go thru the exit hole out of the bottom of the tank bay...
He'll be glad to hear that this is a common problem.....since it fed thru the Fleetwood bay, with no problem......He will decide what direction he plans to go with the problem.....But, thank you all so much for letting us know, all the available solutions.....This RVForum support is terrific...

ps.....LOVE the National Surfside..

I found a wider diameter hatch at a marine supply (Amazon), cut the hole to suit, and now it fits thru.
