Wind noise & dog house seal Questions

We have a 2000 Surfside that has a shrill wind noise under certain conditions such as driving into a headwind from either left or right, or when on a 2 lane road a truck going the opposite direction sets it off. Seems to be coming from the forward overhead compartment. Unable to locate it. Would really like to hear back from someone who has experienced and solved this problem.

The other question is our need to replace the engine dog house seal. Seems these things are Brand, Model and unit specific. Is there a generic product that will work or one for another Brand of RV that can be substituted for it?

Thanks for your responses.

Can't help with the wind noise. I replaced the seal for the dog house several years ago (don't remember where I got it from) it was similar to the original seal. If you download the Steel Rubber RV catalog you may be able find something to use.

Can not specifically answer your question directly, but I can give you some direction. We had a windshield seal that was failing, and under certain conditions, as you stated, head-winds & side-wind from passing trucks caused a whistle.

Thanks D Gardiner,
That's what we have thinking, but haven't been able find any separation between the glass and the seal or between the seal and the frame. Very frustrating. I still suspect you're correct. It' just a matter of finding it.

Thanks Chboone,
Really do appreciate the response. Just talked to a RV chassis repair shop. He said the seal is a common window/door seal available to a HD or Lowes. Probably true since it's attached to the chassis floor and not the fiberglass dog house.
That actually turnes out to be a simple and least expensive solution to a mole hill I was trying to make into a mountain.

Wind noise and dog house seal Answer

Just so no one has to waste any time on the seal question, a RV chassis repair shop gave me the answer. It is simply a window/door seal available at HD and Lowes.
