Window shade repair on '01 Dolphin 5355

Hello everyone,

I recently had the window shade above the dinette malfunction (lose tension) due to one of the strings either being broken or off its track. Has anyone else had this problem with these shades? Were you able to fix them? The first time this happened I ended up relacing it for a very high cost. If there's an easy way to fix it, I'd much prefer to save the money!

Thanks.

Assuming you are talking about "day/night shades", yes they are repairable. You can get 1 mm "Warm Window" cord at most fabric stores. I have repaired three of them. Do not remove the old cord without being certain you can restring it with the new cord. You will never be able to figure out how it was threaded originally. There are also those who will do the job for you. The latest prices I have seen are $15/ shade.

Have fun.

Had to repair my first window day/night shade a couple months ago. There is a TON of info on this forum re the repair procedure....on websites also. Probably the most important thing is to search a bit and find the correct stringing pattern that applies to your window.

Removing what needs to be removed to get at the shade seems to vary a bit. I purchased a "kit" at JoAnne Fabrics that works very well....and very reasonably priced. This can be a tedious repair, but it is not IMHO too terribly difficult. The amount of string needed is significant, so suggest you don't come up short....like I did the first time. My "second stringing" was much easier. So far, so good.
