I have seen a number of post from people with the automatic awnings that have stated that they wished they had the old manual type, just something to look in to.

Thats odd Richard, personally i have had both, my new power awning requires i just hit a switch, it comes perfect, has a wind sensor, its a dream, i cant imagine anyone wanting to struggle putting out a manual awning, unless of coarse the power awning awning they had was inferior or malfunctioning, Gene

Had that happen to me, a sudden downpour on a very long awning. Roller buckled in the middle just like yours. it was covered by insurance and I took the opportunity to upgrade from a vinyl to fabric awning. Unfortunately for me we were on a camping trip and I was unable to remove the fabric without damaging it.

I now have a Carefree Apex with wind sensor

I would seriously consider checking with your insurance company thru your RV service place. That happened to me and since they didn't make mine anymore, they replaced it with an upgrade model and all I had to pay was my $250 deductible and no,they didn't raise my rates.
