03 Phaeton - Gen slide cable detached. Any easy way to get gen slide out?

strange request but on our 03 Phaeton, the latch cable for the generator slide is detached. Is there any easy way to open the generator slide without the latch cable? I haven't actually looked closely at it (will probably get to it this weekend) but my mechanic buddy said he had a look and can't figure any way of getting it to come out.

Let me know. Thanks,

Your going to have to find the latch find the cable and trace it to the latch. The latch should be mounted on the rail and will have to be released by hand I know it's a pain but that how it needs to be done

The latch is in the center of the generator slide at the aft end. You should be able to reach up from underneath the generator and release it. You may need someone to push the slide in just a bit from the front to take the spring pressure off the latch, so it will release easier.

Thanks for all the info. That sounds like it's feasible (my mechanic buddy said he looked for it and couldn't find any way to release it but he probably wasn't looking at the right spot).

Ours has 2 latches but hopefully it will be the same and they'll be exposed. I've got the motor home back now (it had been at my mechanic's doing bodywork for that last while) so will be working on that on Friday so will update if I have any success then or looking for more options if I can't get it to work!
