2000 Allegro Bus Headlights
2000 Allegro Bus Headlights used Ford Mustang 94- 98. I have been researching a fix for the poor headlight lighting. I have done a ton of looking but before I commit to a plan I am looking for someone who has already done some improvement. Thanks in advance. I know about the Vintage site but am afraid to post this twice as I get into trouble every time I post to two sites. Seems a little dumb but who knows.

I bought replacements at Napa and got what they said were the brightest available. Still not enough light, so I’d like to know what others are doing too.

I have done an extensive search all the way from a new bulb for auto parts to complete rebuild of existing housing. There are a bunch of LED bulbs out there now priced all the way from 10 bucks to over 300. With all that said I don't want to start throwing money at the up grade and will wait a while hoping someone will chime in with a fix. If and when I come up with a plan I will post it here. Good Luck. Richard

Why not consider halogen bulbs? Now this is not a "one for one" replacement since these type of bulbs require an inverter to produce a high voltage to fire them up. But if you have electrical skills or have a "good" relative with the knowledge, it is relatively straight forward. In fact, there "complete kirs" available on the market --

But having a "good and reliable" dealer (few and far between) would be rather expensive since their rate is $140 per hour.

probably the easiest fix is to just get some of the new led light bars and some led fog lights. Dave

Took a good long look at this site a couple of days ago. It looks impressive but I have looked at a couple of other sites that have the same theme with different products. What I am looking for is a real person that has had good results to report. Again I just don't want to start throwing money at the project without some good real results.

I replaced the headlights on my 08 Bus (05 Ram PU) with 'projector' style lights. The additional lens provides much better lighting. Next step was to replace the H1 bulbs with equivalent LED bulbs. Now I can see at night!
You would need to research if projector style are available for your MH. In my case I had to modify the mounting brackets when I switched to LED bulbs as they extended further out the back of the housing.

Thanks that is the direction I have decided to approach it will require retrofit to the old housing but it is doable with parts from Rescue Headlights.

I started writing a rather verbose, dreary, beleaguered thread on aging and the diminishing acuity of our senses - vision (and specifically night vision) among them. But it got too damn depressing and I deleted the whole self-pitying mess. But it is a point that should be well taken - we can’t see as well as we could 20 years ago, especially at night.
The good news is (and yes there is some) that it bodes well for an early stop. And who doesn’t enjoy rolling in during daylight, setting up camp before dark, enjoying the obligatory cocktail hour, cooking dinner at a reasonable time, and allowing one’s self the luxury of an early bedtime in preparation for an all out assault on the miles waiting for us in the morn?
So it’s not all bad, but when I bumped over an island (fortunately with soft curbs) this summer around 9:30pm, I became acutely aware that my night vision is clearly (NPI) not what it once was.
