2005 Tiffin Allegro Bay - Chassis Battery Drain

Hi everyone. Looking for some suggestions on where to start. The Chassis battery is losing charge while plugged into shore power. Have checked everything and nothing is running.

Replaced the battery a couple of stops back on our trip thinking it was the problem but last week had to use emergency start to get back on the road with the new battery that we put in back in July.

Turned coach off several times during our trip and it started right back up. Arrived current location on Tuesday 9/8.
Battery yesterday, 9/13 was 12.06 and today it is 11.9.

2005 Allegro Bay 37DB Ford V10

We have owned this rig for 6 years and are full-timers and this is the first time this has occurred. We were parked during pandemic for 2 1/2 months and she started right up with no problems.

Thoughts?

hi,
I am having the same problem on my 2012. using a meter I found that fuse 4 was the issue. This fuse was for my IP cluster. take the fuse out to drain. Had the cluster tested, could not find the issue. There are two plugs on the cluster put in plug a no drain. but in plug B now I have a Drain. The ford tech from AZ told me i need a new cluster. going to ford to order it tomorrow 600.00 cost

You can start the process of elimination by pulling one fuse at a time to find out which circuit is drawing off your chassis battery,
Don't forget the fuse block on top of the dash, believe fuses for the seats n fans and other things

So completed AMP draw test on all fuses today. Checked above steering - all good. Fuse box under steering found fuse slot #4 to be the problem so I have pulled it for now. Drain on battery has stopped. Manual says slot #4 is for Courtesy lamp relay, Interior lamp feed.

jt77 - Just curious - why did the tech say you needed a new cluster?

Next step here, going to do a check on all the wiring and see if I can find a possible cause or short and find out what all is running on that fuse.

My # 4 is for the ip cluster. I sent it to the repair place that handles this and they could not find the problem. There were two plugs. When I plugged in the first one, no drain. When I plugged in the second one drain. These are circuit boards. When I talked to Ford motorhome help line, he said the only thing on that fuse is the cluster and if they could not fix it, then get s need one. Scheduled to be here tomorrow, the dealership said if it does not fix the problem I could return it. I will let you know. FYI known issue with Ford. I had a focus with the same issue.

Oh, wow! What a bummer. Was hoping that solved your problem.

Still working on ours. We are going to wait until our next stop in about a week so that we can address the problem with a fully charged battery.

We checked the wiring didn't see anything but will do more testing on the things that are on that fuse.

Will update this post when we figure some more out.

Keep us posted on if you figure your problem out!
