2007 Phaeton QDH
This is my first post. We are looking at a 2007 Phaeton 40'. It is one owner and was sold by and always serviced by the same dealer. The current owners used it 3 months out of every year and it has very low mileage. We have been told that the owners ran it and the generator monthly, when they weren't using it. What should we look for when we see it? What questions should we ask? We will be trading a 2006 Allegro bay 37' for it.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Also, our Allegro Bay gets 7 mpg. Any guesses as to what kind of diesel mileage we should expect?
Thanks

This coach needs to be checked for the "Big three", roof rails, wet bay floor, and slideout floor. All three should be covered under a TMH extension of the warranty.
There is a ton of info about these issues on the Tiffin RV Network forums.

Ditto on what "ernieh" posted. Also, get all of the service information/records that you can from the RV Dealer and talk to the service tech's that performed the service. Enjoy and best of luck.

I agree with the above post-I would sure get the roof rails checked, the wet bay floor and the driver slide floor checked.
I have a 07 40'QDH I did have to have the wet bay floor replaced but as for the DS floor and the roof rails I have been lucky there. My coach I purchased Aug 06 and the thinking is my coach may not be effected, plus the motor home has always been stored inside when not in use.
Also Tiffin was really at its peak production and the Quality Control and Quality Assurance was much better the summer 06. We watched the build on our coach and did not have a great number of discrepancies at delivery, We still have the same coach and have done several upgrades.
Good luck with your quest.

We are also on the search for a Phantom - 42' is the preference but based on pricing, it may be a 40.'
We are comparing it to a Country Coach of equal years (2005 to 2007). Our trade-in - trading up from a 1999 Winney 37' 5" Adventurer (we originally bought new).
Several questions as Jasper44 had:
1. Quality - obvious concern
a. The Big Three - is this prevalent in all years or only a few (which ones)
b. Any major items we should consider in the size and years we're seeking
2. Other than the obvious - Buy What looks and feels good to us - any suggestions/comparable we should consider
3. This being a Tiffin Forms Group, please offer your "opinion" of quality similarities/differences between the Country Coach and Phantom.
Thanks for your assistance.

right at the lower corners of slide openings

Take a look at the date codes on the tires. The tires could be or pushing 7 years old. We really like the QDH floorplan. I think it has one of the biggest showers you can find in a MH. Best of luck with it.
