2011 Allegro Open Road F53 Engine Issues

Today while traveling I-40 in New Mexico engine died. I was able to get to a area that was safe to pull off and try and figure out what happened. Eng would not start and made a terrible noise when trying. Had it towed to a RV repair shop and they diagnosed the eng with a broken crankshaft. They cannot do that type of engine repair and the RV will be towed to a Ford dealer for repairs/engine replacement tomorrow. A friend of ours had the same engine and same problem with only 5,000 miles on his. Mine has 34,000 miles. Has anyone heard of this problem and could it be a engine glitch.

Welcome to iRV2.

Sorry you're here with problems .
There have been failures with every brand of engine reported here in the forums . Very few on the Ford V-10 that I've read about .
Have you done a Google search ?
With the number of those Ford engines on the road , probably not a design flaw.

Wow, sorry to hear about your engine problem. I've had two F53s, 1999 and 2012.. never an issue, and I've don't hear many stories of catastrophic failures.. so sorry for your troubles,

Wow. I have had two V10s. Never had a problem.. How many miles are on your engine? Mine has 30,600 miles and about 600 hours of operation if I remember correctly. It is in storage right now. Keep us updated on the progress.

Hopefully the flex plate broke and not the crankshaft.

If it was the crank, it's rare.
