I think this is the first year for the 8 liter ISC emissions engine. Uses DEF. This is also a rear radiator making some service a tad more difficult. These are great coaches. The engine is a very good choice for a coach that size and weight. Are you looking at one on the Frieghtliner or Spartan chassis?

Thank you Dennis for your reply. It's on the Freightliner chasis.

I would check and confirm it has the independent front suspension. Game changer for handling and turning radius. Take a look at some Allegro Busses for similar years. Side radiator and some other upgrades. The side radiator reduces the rear overhang a bit and makes normal service a lot easier.

I looked on the spec sheet and it doesn't say anything about front suspension, so not sure how to find out on that. It's unfortunely rear radiator my Monaco Windsor I just sold was side radiator and I loved it for doing maintance.

Why I suggested looking at a Bus. What is attracting you to a Phaeton? Are you considering anything else. Are you looking for newer, better, different floor plan or features? There are just so many choices. I did the 08 Foretravel just about a year ago. I have this one.

No independent front suspension without the Powerglide chassis, nor a side radiator on a Phaeton.
Is what we were told.

We want to drop down in size and the Phaeton comes in a 36 footer. I've kind of always wanted a Phaeton ever since we toured the factory in Red Bay a few years ago.

Factory tours are a somewhat orchestrated show. They do them to promote sales. They focus on the oh wows! As you are focusing on a given model and year range, and probably low miles and properly stored, go look for other rigs for sale that are higher mileage, stored outside or used in northern, coastal areas and see how hold up under non ideal conditions. Also look at some older ones to get an idea of what the one you get now will look like in 5 years and 25K to 50K miles later. For the number produced I think a much higher percentage of Fortravels and Country Coaches are still out there after 15 to 20 years than Tiffan or many of the other production brands.

Verify that the big 3 issues were dealt with. They are:
1. Roof rails
2. Wet bay floor
3. Front corner of driver’s side front slide floor
The 2011 36QSH is a decent rig so long as these issues were dealt with. Tiffin should have records if they were done.

The floor of the DS front slide had leak issues. The front outside corner would rot and be easy to deform. If yours is solid, it has probably been fixed.
