2012 Phaeton bottom step wet

Hi, We have a 2012 Phaeton QBH and the first step in the entry is getting wet. I replaced the rotten plywood and dried everything out but it rained last night and it's getting wet again. There is no moisture in the door jamb anywhere. The carpet is dry on the side of the step area except at the very bottom at the first step. Any suggestions on how to figure out where the moisture is getting in would be appreciated.

Had an 08 Bus with the same problem. Our water leak was at the awning above the door. I took it off and the mount rail fixtures and removed all the caulk so I could reseal with a very good grade of butyl caulk. Never had another problem. I don't have a clue how the water got down there but....?? Fix worked.

The fact that it got wet without being driven helps a little, but not much. You need to check every possible entry point within about five feet of the door. That includes windows, awning mounts, roof rails, lights, etc. Also, check any window weep holes in the area.

A tremendous amount of water can be dumped off your roof above the door. On my previous coach, I added a channel above the door to help divert water. I never found my door leak, but the channel stopped it.

This is a known issue on these coaches. The water enters in one of two places or possibly both. They are the overhead door awning mounting points not being sealed like Pigman 1 said AND/OR where the side belt moulding meets the door jamb. Look very closely for a gap where they meet and reseal that area. Either will cause water to collect in the bottom step well.
