2013 36LA TV system

Just purchased a 2013 Allegro 36L. I am doing the walk thru next week and want to be prepared. I have a few questions on the TV system. 1, where is the control box for the dome satellite dish. 2, are there 2 coax cables from the dish to the back of the bedroom tv to be hooked up to the receiver. 3, Is there an hdmi splitter with 2 inputs (Satellite Receiver, DVD player or any combination) and 6 outputs, 2 to each TV so all tv's have choice of dvd or satellite based on input selected. 4, Is there an over the air control box and where might that be located.
Appreciate any and all help with this matter.
Thanks,
Bob

I have a 2014 34TGA but the hdmi wiring is probably very similar to yours, except maybe the location could be different. In answer to your questions:

1. The dish control is behind the bedroom tv. The tv unlatches and swings up with a firm pull on the bottom of the cabinet door. You will see a switch. When turned on, after a short pause the satellite dish will activate and start to search.

2. There are two cables from the dish antenna. Only one is needed for a receiver such as the 211z for Dish network. You could run two receivers with the two cables, but they can only see a single satellite at a time so that limits station selection a bit.

3. There are two single input hdmi splitters. They are amplified but not switched since there is only a single input on each. One is for satellite output and the other is for the Blu ray or dvd player. In my 34TGA they are mixed into a rats nest of cables BEHIND the panel that holds the satellite switch. Screws must be removed from that panel to access the splitters. In the 2014 34TGA this space gets really hot because it has no cooling fan ... a project for me next month!

4. The control box for the "Ministate" OTA antenna is in the same cabinet behind the bedroom tv. The antenna on the roof can rotate by using a small remote. Problem is, there is no way to know where it is pointing. A very poor antenna that I will soon replace. You might have a different OTA antenna.

Gary, thanks for this important info. Here are my thoughts, tell me what you think. We keep the coach at an RV resort in Naples FL. We get over there from the East Coast of Florida about twice a month for long weekends. The coach will be mostly stationary unless we go galavanting for longer weekends. My service at the RV park is Comcast. I was hoping to install the cable at the park to the external satellite input at the water connections and connect my hd dvr box behind the bedroom TV. I will disconnect the DVD player and connect the hdmi cable from the DVD player to the Comcast DVR box. Next, I will connect the 2 coax cables from the satellite dish to the Directv DVR Box ( I am aware it will only be SD quality, but that's ok) and then connect the 2nd hdmi cable to the Directv box. If all goes well, I should have 3 inputs at each TV. Over the Air, Comcast Cable and Directv. If that works out, then when we go on trips, I loose the Comcast box, but have over the air and Directv and if I go to a place like Fort Wilderness where they do not require boxes I can connect their cable to the cable input at the the water compartment.
See if that makes sense and again, thanks for all your help.

Your basement Sat in connection goes through an A/B switch (usually mounted above the driver's seat in the overhead cabinets). So you are going to lose one input from satellite dish to your DirecTV box when you select the switch position to get your Comcast box operating. If that isn't a problem, then you are good to go.

Wow, now things are getting complicated but really make sense. I just hope the dealer that is giving me the walk thru knows where all these connections and switches are. I'll take all your information and make sure I ask the right questions.

Thanks for all the help

Sorry for the delay in responding. Yesterday was a not-so-relaxing day spent on the road (car only) getting back from the Blue Ridge in VA to Titusville. Two lane I-95 through SC was a parking lot. We stayed off it as much as possible but in some areas there is no alternative.

I don't know Direct TV DVR's well, but if it has two independent tuners then your approach should allow you to record one station while watching another as long as the two stations are on the same satellite. You are correct in that the supplied dish can only get standard def. on Direct TV. We have Dish network in VA, so I changed the little DIP switches in the dish on the roof so that it would look for Dish satellites. Most of the time we can get High def but every now and then it drops back to regular.
Here in Titusville (at The Great Outdoors) we need a box (DVR or simple converter) for each cable tv and that is a real pain. However, the Orlando stations are so strong that even the "Ministate" OTA antenna can pick them up with no fussing. We watch cable in our Florida room and either OTA or Dish in the motorhome.
Good luck with your 36LA! We have been VERY pleased with our 34TGA but yes, that entertainment tech stuff is probably the most complicated system in the coach. Even after being instructed by my dealer it still took me a couple weeks to get the main tv to work through the sound system!

You can do everything on a Directv box if it is equipped with SWM. You would need a SWM adaptor at the antenna, a power inserter, and a SWM equipped receiver (like a Genie). Everything travels on a single coax from the antenna to the DVR. You could free the second coax (the one with the A/B switch) for your cable box. Minimal rewiring would be needed.

That sounds great...never thought of that. I have the genie system in my house with 2 wireless receivers and kept 2 of the old dvr's which were hooked up to the swm system. They work great. I have an extra DVR the same as the two in my house so I should be able to use the swm and free up the other cable.
You see why I love this forum.
Thanks so much and everyone, Happy New Year.

Just one more question. I understand the power inserter. I also found a 2 way swm splitter but don't think I need it. Yes, my receiver is swm compatible, but I'm not sure what the adapter is at the antenna and how I connect it.

Thanks again,
Bob

I am not a Directv user (Dish Hopper/Joey in my rig) so somebody may be along that can tell you how to wire everything. Of coarse, you can dump the dome and add a Winegard Trav'ler SWM and everything will be great and in HD.
