2013 Phaeton Roadtrip Mission to Travler Dish - Extended

Part 2 more questions:
I am changing out their factory installed Winegard mission dome (Dish) to Trav'ler (DirecTV). I have a 36' GH and coax is ran from the front dome location to rear bedroom cabinet behind TV and control switch wiring to the cabinet above the drivers seat.
Question 1: I am installing a SKA-008 mounting plate and after removing the dome and cable entry cover, I determined where the plate should go for clearances, but the plate will cover the current cable entry point. I would like to move the cable entry to just outside the bulged right hand area of the plate outline (see pictures) which will be a good position for connecting to new trav'ler dish. I looked from the inside and it does not appear that there would be any interference. Any red flags noticed by forum members?
Question 2: If I wanted to pull new HDMI cables or use the old dish control cable to pull with - has anyone used the old cable to pull thru new cables successfully or are they just too tight?

You don't need the mounting plate. You can mount the Trav'ler directly to the roof. You cannot use any of the existing cables to pull anything. All the cables are bound together every foot or so with wire ties. Your best bet is to mount all of the cables needed on the surface of the roof. You can get clips to hold them in place or use blobs of sealant to do the same.

You can use the coax cables from your Mission. If you are installing a Trav'ler for DirecTV, you only need one coax thanks to SWM technology.

And you can't use the existing control cable. It must be the new, Trav'ler specific cable included with the antenna.

Hi I just installed the DTV Traveler on my Newmar and learned the following, Newmar suggested that 4 of the mounting holes be screwed in to studs that are 16 inch on center and the wiring needs to come from the side, the dish mounting plate is marked front and back and needs to be mounted parallel to the center line of the roof. Here are a couple of pics. Click image for larger version

Tiffin runs wiring through a channel in the roof insulation. You do not want to accidentally stick a screw in there as the repair cost with be really high. A quick call to Tiffin Service is probably a good idea before you start installing.

Tiffin's roof construction is very different than that of Newmar so while the previous poster's information is great for Newmar owners, it is not really applicable to you.

I agree you should call Tiffin. I had no idea that the 4 studs were required until I called and by chance talked to an actual tech.
