2013 Red 38QBA

Hi all...in the process of purchasing a used 2013 RED 38QBA. Seems to be in great condition and has very low mileage. Any advice? Words of wisdom? Problems? This will be our first Class A - upgrading from a Voltage Toyhauler

If generator has low hrs, run it a lot. Onan recommends that it is better to run it a lot or it will have problems. One of our camping club members got the same model, but was a 2011 and it had low mileage and the gen didn't have many hrs on it and it cost them $3,800 to get it repaired. Also, most of the diesel owners I run into carry a couple of extra fuel filters. Dave

You're gonna love it. If you have service records, then you are way ahead. If you don't, then I would have all fluids and filters changed out. At that age, the air filter is about due for a change.

My best advice for driving is take it to a large parking lot and practice turns, backing, parking, etc. The long wheel base will take a little getting used to, but easy once you get it down. Our QRA is the same chassis/body as yours, just without the bunk beds. I went from a shorter wheelbase gas rig, so this one was a slight learning curve.

Don't think it has a Residential Refrig, if that matters to you. Some who boondock think that's an advantage, others, not so.

We have a 2015 Allegro Red 38QRA, no bunkbed, we did look at the 2013QBS prior to this purchase. Love it. There is a learning curve driving a motorhome, and a learning curve with the diesel. My first notice of a difference from my gas rigs was on the hills. I could floor the gas MH and run up the engine, sucking fuel, but keeping up highway speed on steep hills. The diesel takes the mountains with quiet ease, never struggling even with the car in tow, but keeping the RPMs at 25 means I tend to loose speed on the mountains. But such a soft, quiet ride, it is all good. I was told by experts that you should take out and in the slides under power, either with the engine on or plugged in. The slides draw more amps than the batteries can handle if they are drawn down. When taking out the slides, take them all the way out before bringing them back in, it synchronized the system. From personal experience, remember that the back does not track the front...I need to have the drivers side rear touched up after a conversation with a post. Tiffin is a very customer/family oriented company. An e-mail to Tiffin is promptly responded to usually by a technician knowledgeable with the area of concern. Tiffin is also wonderful about sending parts, even small things, for self repairs. I wanted to add an extra splash panel on the kitchen counter, asked Tiffin, and they sent a matching piece of solid surface matching material (at my cost, but hay, they sent it out right away).
Enjoy your new rig. Tiffin owners also have a website on the TiffinRVnetwork.com.
Happy Trails.

Agree with the service records comment. If no record assume not done. The intake air cleaner element is a often skipped item and is a biggie.

Got ours in August. So far we love it, just wish we have more time to use it.
