Has this something that’s been corrected in recent years by tiffin or still a common issue?

To the OP,

You can ignore 99% of the posts on this subject since they are either wrong or speculative. Tiffin guarantees the roof for 10 years from the date of first sale. If you are worried, take it to a Tiffin Service Center (Red Bay would be my first choice) and have them take a look at it.

The fiberglass roof is glued to a plywood substrate and then secured along the sides. Bubbles like this can form since the fiberglass can expand faster than the substrate it is
glued to. If Tiffin thinks there are too many bubbles or too large of area, they will reglue or replace the roof under warranty.

Thanks, I did contact tiffin & sent pictures. They said their should not be a problem. The roof warranty for 10 is the structural part. The fiberglass is only 3. Go figure. I have passed on buying this rig & will keep looking. A lot of money to spend & then drive it from Cali to red bay in hiopes it would get fixed. Thanks

Wow that is unbelievable. No doubt I would have passed on it too unless the price was dropped by the amount needed to replace the fiberglass by Tiffin (my first stop after buying it). Hope mine doesn't do that.

Not a Tiffin, but my 2002 American Eagle has a fiberglass roof also. There are several places where it has lifted similar to the OP’s roof. I contacted the roof manufacturer and they told me not to worry. The roof had lifted due to the reasons already stated previously. When I replaced one of the ACs, i checked as best I could under the fiberglass and all was dry and normal. No condensation or any signs of moisture. Zero soft spots beneath the fiberglass. 9 years later of full timing and the roof is the same. Some air pockets here and there but solid foundation.

That one needs a new roof. Yes, Fibron expands and contracts at different rates than underlayment but properly glued it will not do that.

The real problem when the Fibron is moving that much is failure of any seals. The roof coves, skylight, roof vents, ac, tank vents. To have that much separation moisture has gotten under the Fibron at some time. Problem is how do you walk on it to reseal everything but the roof coves. Likely will crack.

Keep all the edges sealed and it won’t leak, until it cracks and does. Search the forums for the guy that was driving down the road a 6’ of his Fibron peeled off. It the becomes an emergency.

That one will need new Fibron and luan underlayment. Generally it is best to replace skylight, vent caps and roof vents. It’s cheaper to install new than clean up the old. I write a lot of estimates to replace these when damaged.

A good place to start is $325-$350 a lineal foot. So that’s $14,000 to replace.

I have a 16 year old Winnebago that spends all winter in Mexico in direct sunlight and I do not have a single bubble in it.
