2015 Phaeton Day/Night shade Brackets

Helping a friend with his broken shade brackets. Any suggestions or tricks to get the shade into the new brackets?

Not sure, they are original to the coach. We need to wait until he gets the new brackets and see how they snap onto the blinds. They are rumored he says if being very difficult? Was hoping someone had some hands on experience with these.

Yes the drivers side above the sofa.

I believe the 2015 Phaeton is the same as my 2017. If so his mounting brackets should look like the attached photo.

They're no fun to replace but the biggest thing he has going for him is you as a helper. I did one of mine by myself and having some help, even just to hold a flashlight, would have been a big plus.

First of all regarding the bracket. As you can hopefully see there is one side where the lip of the shade rail slips into. The other end of the bracket is spring loaded for the other side of the rail to clip into, or when pressed to release the shade.

At this point I'm assuming your friend's shades are completely dismounted and the new brackets have been installed. The following are my suggestions.

Open the window and remove the screen. This will possibly allow you to help from the outside while your friend works from the inside.

Unravel the day and night shades, but not all the way. I left approximately two or three wraps as I didn't want to take a chance of the shades pulling away from the roller. This will give the working room you'll need.

Then it's a matter of getting one edge of the shade rail into the fixed slots. Mine were mounted with two brackets, but I added a third for extra support. The difficult part, and where a helper comes in, is all mounting sections of the shade rail need to be in the fixed slot before the shade can be snap into the spring loaded side.

Hope the above is helpful.

That two hole strap is much better than my MDC originals. I've had issues with two longer double shades pulling loose from their mounting screws due to the weight plus Tiffin used small short screws. Did find a metal clip similar to the one shown but could not find them in stock so I fabricated a support strap.

BobGed's instructions are right on point!!

BobGed thank you for the suggestions. They should help us. We were going to wait too, and see how the new brackets look compared to the broken ones that failed. Your picture of the new brackets help with that. We were thinking we needed to insert into the spring loaded side first with pressure on the movement then let it drop back into the fixed side. After seeing the picture I see what you are saying and your method seems to be the way to do it. BTW where did you get your new brackets? Friend said he couldnít find them on Tiffins parts site but evidently found them somewhere. Thanks for the help.

I purchased by brackets from Tiffin but as I recall the shipping charges were pretty high. https://store.tiffinmotorhomes.com/z...comp=catsearch

Attached is a photo that shows they are made by Irvine Shade and Door so they might be available there at a lower total cost. I believe it might be their #3 flat bracket, but it's hard to tell for sure.
