You should have the same setup as I do, so here is a copy of the Quick Start Guide for the Kenwood DNX571TR. On Page 11, there are instructions, and an illustration regarding updating the unit's software (do this before you do any map updates), and then the maps. Per the illustration, there is a microSD Card Slot behind a cover at the lower left corner of the unit as you view it in the dash.
Two things about the in-dash GPS in the 2016 Open Roads:
1) As positioned in the dash, they are very hard to see clearly when driving. The placement is way too far right in my opinion, and the screen isn't overly large to easily see the routing.
2) Unless things have changed, map updates from Garmin are $100+ per update.
I just decided to abandon the in-dash GPS and purchased a Garmin RV770 in 2018 for my Open Road. I can place it on the dash where I can see it, the screen is larger, and the updates are free (until Garmin determines it's obsolete). In later model years of the Open Road, they switched the position of the GPS and the Rear View Monitor, so that the GPS is much easier to see. But the map updates still cost you.
