We contacted Ford road service and they tried to send a tow truck, but the towing company said that Ford road service wouldn't pay enough so charges were denied. I guess these road service companies use dispatch services that only offer up a certain amount of money for the tow and many towing companies won't accept the meager offering; so the disabled travelers might be left for hours or even days waiting while the dispatchers try to find a company with a low bid for towing; this is what the towing company told us.
The motorhome is in about the safest place it could be - in the middle of a large Casino parking lot. So, if the looters, thieves, and wildfire don't get it we may recover it when the roads re-open. We left stuff in the refrigerator and a full freezer and are hoping the solor panels will keep it running; hopefully the smoke won't block too much sun.
We're very upset with Ford right now! We're not too happy with Tiffin either... one or the other should have notified us that a problem existed and that there was a simple fix for it.

OK - roads opened up, so we'll travel back to the motorhome today and replace the spark plug wires. Fingers are crossed hoping this fixes it!

Since ours were replaced, we have traveled about 2,500 miles with no problems. Hope everything works out.
Safe travels.

Well, it was indeed the spark plug wires... we are back on the road. Now will have to see if I can get Ford to pay for the parts and maybe more!

I saved Ford a lot of money - will they reimburse me?

Sent her the Roadside Assistance Warranty, which stated they would cover towing costs for a warranty issue. Had my reimbursement within 3 weeks of sending the letter. To me this should be a recall issue. It's a safety hazard when you suddenly drop to 14 MPH on an interstate with no place to pull over for over two miles.

Well, we tried to have the motorhome towed out of the fire danger zone, but Ford roadside service was no help. The towing company they contacted declined to tow us because the roadside dispatchers service offered too little money (as told to us by the towing company). We could have kept trying to get it towed, but time was of the essence as we were being evacuated and roads into the Tahoe fire zone were closed. So, we did the practical thing - left the motorhome, traveled out of dangers way, stayed in a hotel for one night, obtained spark plug wires, went home and waited for roads to open several days later, returned and replaced the plug wires. In doing so, we saved Ford the cost of an expensive tow, and the cost of doing the TSB repairs. So, I would think they would be happy to reimburse us. Where do you think I should begin; who should I contact?
