315 tires on bus

Hello Allegro Bus owners. I'm trying to help a friend on his decision for new tires. Has any one installed 315/80 xza2's on the front axle of a 2009 42 ft bus with the powerglide chassis? any help would be much appreciated!

The front axle weight on our 2013 Bus is so high we need to run 120psi in the 295 fronts. When it comes time to replace them, I'm going with the 315's. We should be able to run these softer for an improved ride. These should fit on the Powerglide just fine based on clearances I see on the 295's. Tell your friend to just check clearances on the current tires. The 395's are not that much bigger.

Just be aware that Michelin publishes a specific pressure chart for 315s mounted on 8.25" wheels. They derate the tires and you end up only being able to drop the pressure a few pounds. If you spring for 9" wheels you can go much lower.

thanks Pigman and Steve. He managed to round up a couple of 295/80 Xza2's with 14 date stamps in Ft Myers today. At least he will be riding on something safer than his 6 yr old steers. when he gets back to Mi. he can always put the new steers on his tag if he still wants to pursue the 315's.
Thanks again!
