AC - Coleman Mach 8 - 6 month delivery - Any ideas

My front AC started short cycling
Fortunately it is the end of the summer
Called Tiffin said likely its low freon - no valve to add freon
They said the back order is ~ 6 months

I called the factory and its for real
They said its about parts suppliers deliveries
They make units when they have parts
The large retailers tell me that a couple of hundred will be delivered to the distributor then be gone in a couple of days
one large retailer said they have no waiting list to just keep calling them
another lets you order ... they have no inventory ... the backorder becomes their waiting list
Vendor says the low profile Coleman mach 8 has ~ 18 week delivery
Said normal height units are 2-4 weeks.

an alternative is to find someone that can solder in a valve to add freon
since its a heat pump it is useful in the fall & spring as well

Anyone know of any tricks to get one that you can share here just between us?

Any good AC person should be able to install one and recharge that for you. Had it done to one of mine.

If you can do without the heat pump, PPL Motorhomes in Houston had them in stock. We don't use the HP on our front unit, so I ordered one from them and had it in four days. That one also did not have the condensation pump, but that can easily be changed over from the old unit.
