AC oscillating fan conversion?

I have a regular oscillating fan that runs on AC current. I want to use it in my rig without using the inverter. Can I cut off the AC plug at the end of the wire, and replace it with a cigarette lighter plug, and simply connect it to one of the cigarette outlets in the rig?

NO! The problem isn't the plug. An AC motor will not run on DC. There is such a thing as a universal motor, but even that will not run when the DC voltage is 1/10th the design voltage.

Get a nice oscillating DC fan...
