Advice all things 33AA
First Hello.
Wife and I are wanting to get a 33AA. We have owned toy haulers and most recently a Georgetown gasser. Been out of RVing for a few years and wanting to get back as we are winding down to retirement.
We love the 33AA but mostly because of floor plan. We want the smallest diesel RV that can easily tow a very heavy Jeep Wrangler (modified and heavy probably 6K lbs I assume). We also like and up until now it appears to be the smallest powerful RV with a king bed.
At this point we are hoping to pick up the best used value we can find.
1. Any majors watch outs for a particular year to avoid?
2. I believe I read somewhere that along the line they increased the towing capacity. What year and should that be a for sure based on what we will pull?
3. I have read a lot of folks modifying the suspension to make it easier to drive. I assume coming from our gasser it will be a dream but if not what are we getting into to modify the suspension?
4. We would do a complete inspection before buying but any certain things we need to be aware of or ask?
5. Those that have a 33AA, knowing what we are looking for would you do it again or buy something else.
All the help would be great. Thank you.

We are very pleased with ours and plan on using ours in retirement also. You are going to love the ride and sound difference going to the diesel!

Might want to check the towing capacity, I think it is rated at 5,000lbs, I was surprised on my 34 QFA the manual shows 10,000 but I called Tiffin and they said RED's are 5,000. Don't know if all of them are the same rating.

The web site says 10,000lbs on the 2020 Red. Has 360 ISB with 3000 Allison. The transmission seems to be the gating component.

Yep, sorry I looked further after posting and looks like the newer units do tow up to 10,000 lbs. I had hoped mine did too as I wanted to tow my Tesla on a trailer, but it is too heavy for me.

I believe 2017 is the year Reds went to 10K towing capacity.

We have a 2018 33AA and love it. The coach is very comfortable and feels much larger than it is. We had a few issues with it after purchase (mostly caused by the dealership) but no more than with any other RV we have owned over the past 40 years we have been campers and the assistance from Tiffin is second to none.
We went from a 42 foot, 450 horsepower coach to the 33AA and did find some handling issues in comparison. The only advice I can give you is to get weighed and adjust the tires to the recommended pressures. This made a noticeable difference. After our first cross country trip we went to Safe T Plus located outside Atlanta and had the steering stabilizer installed. Major difference and comfortable all day one handed driving now.
We have found the power to be sufficient and don't even notice the Wrangler we tow and this includes some pretty heavy grades we have driven over
.
If you have any specific questions feel free to PM.
