AGS problem

Generator will randomly shut off and when it did not come on after the temperature rose I checked the panel and the status was Off and no longer Enabled.

Had you manually started the generator at some point? Manually starting disables the AGS and you have to re-enable it.

I think if you manually stopped it it will disable AGS as well.

I do not know which AGS you have however the RVIA has a few safety requirements to avoid a generator starting in a bad place:

- After 30 days the AGS will disable itself.

- If the engine is started the AGS will disable itself. Or maybe just turning the ignition key on.

Both are intended to keep someone from driving to, say, enclosed storage, leaving, and the generator starting itself unattended.

Or enabling AGS and forgetting it's enabled.

Both bite me when we're parked at home or some place for over a month, or if I need to run the engine for something. Our AGS is made by Precision Plex and that was their explanation for why I would find AGS disabled

FWIW,

Ray

I have tried to reset it and have manually stopped it then reset the AGS. Neither worked.

It's possible that when the AGS tries to start the generator, the starter draws enough current to lower the battery voltage to the point were the AGS shuts off.

We have the Magnum Energy MS2000 Inverter/Charger with the optional AGS, and if the battery voltage drops to 8.5 volts, the systems shuts down and immediately restarts. On this system, there is an "AGS Mode" setting that if set to RV, the AGS will be set to off when the system restarts.

You can determine if this is happening by listening for the starter when the AGS attempts to start the generator. You'll hear the starter engage for an instant and then stop.
