Air compressor dryer goes out.

Hi all,

We had a trip planned to Sardine Lake in California and we set out on Friday from Reno at around 5:00pm. We made a stop to pick up some Kayaks and headed up the hill. About 5 miles from our destination my air pressure alarm went off and I looked at the gauges and I had 64 pounds of pressure in the tanks. Every time I hit the breaks I would lose more pressure. I knew that if I kept going my breaks were going to lock up. The next morning we took the toad to the nearest city and called a mechanic. He told me the dryer could be the problem because the air was coming out of the bottom of the dryer. He said I could bypass the dryer if I had the right connections and I would be fine. Well I did and that worked. We luckily had a big crescent wrench and we joined the two air connectors together eliminating the dryer. After the vacation we drove home and I tried to fix the problem my self. I called Tiffin and they gave me the parts they thought I needed but no matter what part I changed I had the same result. I called Haldex and they were very helpful. Turns out there was a plastic part that broke off in the head of the unit and it was non repairable. I purchased a new one and installed it and everything is fine. So if you lose your dryer you can bypass it for a few hundred miles with no problems.
